Meet Poinsettia Prism!

It’s finally time to share this festive design with you!

You can find Poinsettia Prism in the latest issue of American Patchwork & Quilting magazine, on newsstands today!

I originally designed this pattern back in 2018 or 2019, so getting to share it with all of you after all these years is extra special. I can’t wait to see it stitched up in your favorite holiday fabrics!

Run to your nearest bookstore and grab a copy. There’s still plenty of time to make this quilt in time for the holidays!

Will Poinsettia Prism be on your holiday sewing list?

Cooler temps = quilt season.

There’s nothing better than pulling out a favorite quilt when the air starts to feel a little cooler.

Right now, Prairie Memories is my go to on those cooler days. If you’ve been thinking about adding this one to your sewing list, today is the day. Prairie Memories is 25% off through TODAY, October 4! And if you are a newsletter subscriber, a special link to Pay What You Want was sent out on release day, September 30, so check you inbox.

Grab your copy of Prairie Memories to start making your own and bring on the crisp mornings and cozy evenings.

Quilt photos in the wild!

Some of my favorite quilt photos are taken outside. Natural light, beautiful surroundings, and a little bit of spontaneity can make a quilt photo feel so much more special.

Here are a few things I do when photographing quilts in nature:

Pack a quilt for the hike.
If I’m heading into the woods, I’ll usually bring a quilt along. You never know when a beautiful, unexpected photo opportunity will pop up!

Get the close-up.
Of course I want a photo of the whole quilt, but I also love using the natural light to capture the little details—the fabrics, quilting, and beautiful textures.

Let the surroundings be part of the photo.
If the scenery is beautiful, try placing your quilt off-center in the frame. You’ll showcase the whole quilt while letting the setting tell part of the story.

Drape it and let it fall.
A fence, rock, tree—whatever you find! Instead of trying to make the quilt perfectly straight, let it drape naturally. The more organic, the better.

And finally, have fun!
You’re already somewhere beautiful, so don’t let getting the perfect photo take over the whole outing. Take your pictures, pack up the quilt, and then put the camera away and simply enjoy where you are and who you are with.

Sometimes the best quilt photos happen when you’re not trying quite so hard to make them perfect.
